AHV was founded in the Netherlands in 2014 by a veterinarian named Gertjan Streefland. As a dairy veterinarian, Streefland experienced firsthand the limitations and frustrations of the tools available to care for dairy animals and their impact on the food supply chain. While studying microbiology, he came across the fact that bacteria can ‘talk’ to each other – this is known scientifically as quorum sensing. Streefland went to work researching natural molecules that could disrupt this communication process, leaving bacteria vulnerable to the animal’s immune system. Today, AHV has offices in more than 18 countries around the globe. We employ a talented team of microbiologists, chemists, veterinarians, nutritionists, and passionate farm advisors to serve our growing customer base of more than 8,000 farmers. The AHV team is united in our mission to empower farmers through innovation in animal health and unrivaled service. For many of us, the dairy farms we serve aren’t just customers; they are family members and dear friends. We understand the daily demands of running a dairy, the emotional pressure of inheriting a family legacy, and the increasing challenges of consumer demands and labor shortages. It is our passion to help where we can and be honest and upfront about where we can’t.
